Ghanaian Hip-life
musician Richard Kwasi Siaw Afrofi, known in the showbiz world as Ex Doe is one
of the pioneers of the Hip-Life movement. He is recognised for some of his hit
songs like ‘Maba’, Daavi mede kuku, ‘Comfort’ and more.
One will say
it’s been ages since Ghana heard from him. Well, Ex Doe is back and back with
another controversy apart from the ones he’s had with several Hip-Life artistes
like Chicago, Reggie Rockstone, and Bandana amongst others.
Ex Doe in a
conversation with the Maxx Entertainment Crew revealed that most of the
pioneers of Hip-life music who could not stand the test of time and were
starving due to dynamism in the music industry have been compelled to become
pastors or men of God.
“I have pondered
over this many at times. Because of the hardship and pressure in the game,
those who are not able to endure the hardship are compelled to turn into
pastors. The boys are struggling with life, but in life so far as you are a
man, there will be ups and downs. You need to rise up to your feet when you
fall. As you grow you learn lessons and correct your past mistakes” Ex Doe
stated.
Does this means
that Hip-life artistes like Lord Kenya, Ofori Amponsah, KK Kabobo and Lazy dog
have become pastors and prophets because of pressure and hunger in the
industry?
According to
him, people shouldn’t consider him old fashion. His talent still functions
perfectly and if he is given the platform to perform, he will make sceptic fans
realise that he has done it before and he is Ex Doe.
He finally added
that although he currently operates a drinking spot in Accra, his talent in
music still holds and nothing could change his mind, unlike those whose are
turning into false pastors due to little hardship and hunger they face in the
music industry.
