Renowned Ghanaian personality, Kwasi
Kyei Darkwa, popularly known as KKD, is currently being processed for court by
the Police.
His counsel, Nana Asante Bediatuo,
says he will subsequently file a bail application at the court.
According to Citifmonline.com, Nana
Asante Bediatuo said his client is being processed for court because the Police
have 48 hours to put him before a court “for the court to determine whether he
should be held or not.”
According to him, KKD has not been
“charged with any crime; we are looking forward to going to court and making a
prayer to the court for bail.”
He was however optimistic that
considering the merits of the case, KKD is likely to be granted bail.
Nana Asante Bediatuo has commended
the Police personnel at the Airport Police station for not infringing upon the
rights of his client since his arrest on Sunday.
He said the Police have acted fairly
and have carried out their investigations with decorum “and we don’t have any
difficulty with that. There is nothing untoward about it; the police have to
get to the bottom of the matter.”
KKD’s counsel pointed out that such
kinds of investigations sometimes turn out to help the accused persons “and in
fact, it may reveal that the allegations are baseless.”
Meanwhile, some family members and
friends of KKD are expected to join him today at court.
KKD was arrested on Sunday at the
African Regent Hotel over alleged sexual assault of a 19-year-old girl but his
Counsel has dismissed the claims with the explanation that his client and the complainant
had “consensual sex”.
