The management of Castro and D Black are to sue Kingdom
Herbal Ltd for intellectual property theft according to a press release
issued by Black Avenue Muzik.
Kingdom
Herbal Ltd as a popular herbal beverage manufacturing firm has breached the
intellectual property rights of Theophilus Tagoe (Castro), Desmond Blackmore
(D-Black) & Patrick Sika Nartey (DJ Breezy) by using their popular song ‘Seihor’
as the theme song for promoting their new herbal drink ‘Don Papa’ Gin Bitters
in a TV Commercial without their consent.
The TV
commercial sees the use of the ‘still missing’ Castro’s song ‘Seihor’ and the
duplication of the dance moves with his crew in the ‘Seihor’ music video which
was recorded and produced at D-Black’s Black Avenue Muzik studios by DJ Breezy.
Calls made
to the offices of Kingdom Herbal by Castro and D-Black’s management proved
futile till a visit was made by Castro’s manager and biological brother ‘Kwame
Tagoe’ and D-Black’s road manager ‘Francis Clottey’. After the personal visit
to the director of the firm, Mr. Jonathan Amofa, he promised to resolve the
issue in a few days with them. The next day, the company edited the TV
commercial by replacing the ‘Seihor’ song with a foreign song.
When the director
was contacted regarding the edited commercial, he retorted, ‘Hey we have
removed the song, what do you want from us again? You don’t have any proof’.
Meanwhile,
the original advert had already been recorded by Castro and D Black’s
management.
