Broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwa is set to spend
another week in police custody as the bail hearing at the Human Rights court in
Accra, has been adjourned to January 14.
The case which was heard today at the Justice Kofi
Essel-Mensah court was adjourned because the prosecution requested and was
granted time to go through a 34 paragraph affidavit submitted by the defense.
KKD’s first court appearance was at a Magistrate
court in Accra, Tuesday December 30, 2014 following his arrest and detention
for alleged sexual assault against a 19-year-old girl.
He is expected back in that court Thursday January
8.
Rape according to Ghana’s laws is a non-bailable
offence and convicted rapists risk between five and 25 years in prison.
