The countdown to the
much talked about event designed to honour Reggae and Dancehall artistes in
Ghana, BASS awards is still on. And Stonebwoy
has six nominations – Dancehall Artiste of the Year, Artiste of the Year,
Dancehall Song of the Year, Best Collaboration of the Year and Best Performer
of the Year – for the 2014 BASS Awards.
Stone Bwoy who was excited
about his BASS Awards slots, said that despite the dancehall song of the year loss
to Shatta Wale in the recent VGMA’s, he believes that being nominated alone is
an honour.
Speaking
to the Maxx Entertainment Crew in an exclusive interview, Dancehall icon Stonebwoy
added his voice to calls for uniqueness in Ghanaian Dancehall and Reggae music,
instead of copying what Jamaicans do, as Music maestro, Gyedu Blay Ambolley
last week stated.
According
to Stonebwoy, he supports what Gyedu Blay Ambolley stated. He added that though
what Ghanaian Dancehall musicians are doing now is pure Jamaican Dancehall, it
will make sense to add a little bit of Ghanaian flavour to make it unique. He
added that to make his songs unique and original, he fuses some Twi and Ewe
languages.
