#Bring Back Jonathan 2015 Signs is Offensive - President Jonathan

Nigerians will elect a president as well as members of the national legislature on February 14, 2015. Elections for governors as well as members of the 36 state houses of assembly are scheduled for February 28, 2015. It’s obviously campaign time, and guess what, the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan is using an insensitive parody of the #bringbackourgirls harsh tag as their campaign strategy titled #BringbackGoodluck2015.

In a press statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Reuben Abati, reveals that President Goodluck Jonathan, is not comfortable with his 2015 campaign banner which is being floated everywhere in the Abuja metro polis with the inscription, ‘#BringBackGoodluck2015.’

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has directed that the #BringBackGoodluck2015 signs and banners around Abuja which he and many Nigerians find offensive be brought down immediately.

According to the press release, “President Jonathan wholly shares the widely expressed view that the signs which were put up without his knowledge or approval are a highly insensitive parody of the #Bring Back Our Girls hash tag.”

It further read that, “While President Jonathan appreciates the enthusiastic show of support for his administration by a broad range of stakeholders, he condemns the #Bring Back Jonathan 2015 signs which appear to make light of the very serious national and global concern for the abducted Chibok girls.”

The President assured all Nigerians and the international community that his administration remains fully engaged with efforts to rescue the abducted girls.
