Sarkodie
and Castro are Ghanaians; very well
known in the Ghana music industry, and also recognised international. Both of
them are great musicians. Sarkodie
is a very good rapper, where as Castro is very good singer. They have combined their
special abilities to create a piece titled “ADONAI”, produced by street
beatz. The word Adonai is a Hebrew word and it means Lord.
The song is a Hip-life
music genre. Language format is Twi and ‘broken English’. The song begins with a short beat, an
introduction by Sarkodie and Castro “obiannto ne collection...weih...” (Meaning all should give offering), and
a short rap by Sarkodie “mennma onipa bia mmbu wo.....”,
before the chorus by Castro “S3 wobamua, nioma nyinaa ay3 din.....”.
It is a song with three verses, two of them being raps (Sarkodie) and one being
singing (Castro).
Castro and Sarkodie in
this song give thanks and praises to God for the great things He’s been doing
for them.
In the first verse,
Sarkodie insults his enemies and talks about how God has transformed him to the
better side of life. (Rap)
He also says in the
second verse, how his enemies have been put to shame because of God’s maximum
protection. (Rap)
The third (last) verse
which follows the second verse without a chorus break is a singing by Castro.
He gives thanks to God for His maximum blessings upon him. (Singing)
The song has a
beautiful arrangement. The vocals are clear. Although the high vocal pitch by Castro in
the third verse sounds computerized which makes is quite unprofessional, the backings are on point.
Adonai is therefore a
song with a very simple but nice instrumental, meaning few instruments some of
which are keyboard, lead guitar, and some simple kicks are featured.
Aside the fact that the
song has very good rhymes, it contains inspirational and funny contents.
It is therefore easy to
sing along and danceable. People may consider the song Gospel, but I consider
it Hip life with inspirational content.
Overall, it is a good
song, but people could easily get fed up with it.
