BASS Awards is an
annual event designed to honor and award outstanding Reggae and Dancehall
artistes in Ghana. The event also serves as an annual gathering of lovers of
Reggae and Dancehall music and generally present high class entertainment to
the public.
The nomination list for
the second edition of this year’s BASS awards has been released and Music
maestro, Gyedu Blay Ambolley is one of the nominees. His song, ‘It doesn’t Matter,’ is nominated
as the Reggae Song of the Year
In an exclusive
interview with Godfrey’s Entertainment Realm, Mr. Ambulley said that being
nominated is an honour and it translates into the fact that the young followers
of Reggae/Dancehall in the country are now paying attention to all circles of
the genre. He added that he was not expecting his song to be nominated at all.
According to him,
reggae/dancehall has a striking resemblance to hi-life music, and so in order
for the music genre to be unique in the country, young Dancehall/Reggae artistes
need to infuse something from the Ghanaian culture into it to create new genre.
