Ghanaian
musician Emmanuel Botchway aka Kwaw Kese will spend this year’s Christmas and
New Year at the Kumasi Central prisons as his cry and plea in court to be granted
bail on health grounds will not be heard by the (Judge Justice William
Boampong) who presided over his case at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly
Circuit Court.
Kwaw
Kese who broke in tears as he spoke in court today begged the judge to grant
him bail so he could attend to his health challenges since things were getting
worse with him but the judge would not budge.
His lawyer,
Kwasi Boayitey had earlier pleaded with the court to grant a temporal
adjournment so he could attend to an appointment his client (Kwaw Kese) had at
the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) but the judge denied reasons being
that he could not wait any longer.
Kwaw could
no longer hold his tears as he said, “Opanin me ser3 wo me nko babiaaa na mo ma
me bail, me sere mo” meaning “I beg I won’t go anywhere if granted bail”.
Kwaw Kese
appeared in court in an ash jacket over an orange Lacoste shirt with his hair
shaved.
Kwaw Kese is
standing trial for allegedly smoking marijuana.
The case has
therefore been adjourned to Monday January 5 2015.
